FITCE was founded in 1962 in Brussels, Belgium by telecommunication engineers from France and Belgium and extended to the six countries of the then european community. Now it has membership from most of European Union countries. FITCE has very clear values and aims such as keeping in touch with leading edge ICT developments, Ensuring that our members benefit from the experience acquired by other members in all ICT fields, Building strong cultural and business ties between European ICT professionals and Ensuring that Young Professionals are able to use FITCE as a valued resource in their career development.
Each year FITCE organises a Congress, held usually in autumn and hosted by one of the national associations. This popular event, which has been running since 1962, gives an opportunity for members to listen to a broad spectrum of papers and to participate in debate on topical issues. The Congress, attended by up to 500 delegates, provides a useful platform for individual networking between telecommunications professionals across Europe. The Congress also enjoys support from government ministries, academic institutions, national operators and the telecommunications industry.
